About Shana Dreher and pinwhirls

About us:

I'm Shana - mother, wife, and party supply shop owner. My sister, Erin, and I work together closely to whirl whimsical party supplies including our most popular personalized party pinwheeels. I handle customer service, design/printing/cutting papers/products, S&H, web updates, photos, finances ... the list goes on. Erin is our master pinwhirl assembler - I think she can assemble in her sleep and probably needs to as she does most of the assembly after her 4 kiddos are off in dream land. I work most days in my in home office with my son, Gabriel Cooper, at my side - or shall I say I say at my knee, as that's where he loves to hang out the most. Gabe, as we call him, will turn two in April. He is quickly learning the pinwhirl trade. My husband, Roger, helps out tech wise whenever he is able.

Our history:
Crossroads Cottage, an online home décor shop, was launched in October of 2007 by Shana Dreher. Spurred by a love for and background in event, meeting, and party planning, Shana began adding custom party accessories to CrossroadsCottage.biz and opened her Etsy shop in January of 2008. One of the first party items added were mini cupcake topper pinwheels, later named pinwhirls. Within months clients were requesting other custom pinwheel items including handheld, yard, and pinwheel party hats and place cards. These items were initially assembled with commercial scrapbook papers, but by early fall she learned that she could better serve the custom needs of clients by altering digital papers and printing them in house. By late fall the personalized party pinwhirls began taking up too much space on her existing website so pinwhirls.com {a divison of crossroads cottage, llc} was launched in December of 2008. Along the way diy pinwheel items and kits were also added to the site, for those clients on a budget. In addition to pinwheels, personalized party hats, banners, pennants, tags, labels, cupcake wrappers, invites, and more have also been added to the shops. And with over 1,000 exclusive papers available, plus the ability to alter or create custom papers, she really can whirl her papers into personalized products for anything from intimate birthday parties, to upscale weddings, to large corporate events and tradeshows.

Since 2008, pinwhirls.com has sold over 25,000 pinwheels and her products have been featured on dozens of blogs and other various publications, including a recent feature in the knot wedding magazine and the Australian Cosmo Bride. In October of 2011, Shana was also featured as the Doer of the Week on Martha Stewart's Dreamers into Doers site.
